PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Good afternoon, Happy Friday! I hope this message finds everyone safe.

We have just completed 12 days of remote learning. The faculty is working diligently to make this experience as smooth and effective as we can for your family. We understand that there is a great deal of stress and uncertainty in the world and we are trying very hard not to add to it. Instead we hope to offer your children some engaging experiences to keep their learning moving forward during these strange times.

We also understand that remote learning may be very difficult for some students. If you are having difficulty, please reach out to me at kevin.skomer@bps101.net or your classroom teacher and we will do what we can to help. I am meeting regularly with the faculty, so please feel free to share any feedback you have with me so that we can work to make our remote learning as effective as it can be.

STUDENT INCENTIVE PROGRAMS

I have received several questions about the student incentive programs that are currently running. Below find the specific detail on each program:

Kane County Cougars Reading Incentive

The Kane County Cougars have offered all participants in the Ozzie Reading Club a voucher to attend any game this season. The scheduled school wide game is canceled and the Cougars are awaiting a decision from the MLB about this year’s schedule. If your student has read 20 minutes per day for 8 weeks, there is no need to send in any paperwork. Simply email Mrs. Hanrahan at donna.hanrahan@bps101.net by April 16 and a voucher will be emailed to you to choose any game this season.

Six Flags Read to Succeed

Six Flags Read to Succeed has extended its due date until April 16. If your child has read at least six hours, they are eligible for a free ticket to Six Flags Great American in Gurnee this summer. If you have not registered and logged your hours go to sixflags.com/books. If you do not have your class code use VQGJP to find your class. Please complete the log by April 16. Your ticket will be emailed to you in late May. If you have any questions please email Mrs. Hanrahan at donna.hanrahan@bps101.net.

Raging Waves

The Raging Waves exercise program was scheduled to end on April 8. If your child completed the 25 hours of exercise, but you were unable to turn in your form, please email your child’s name to Mr. Lau (james.lau@bps101.net) by 3:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14.

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart was also ending this week. If you were unable to turn your money in you can still get the money in through the Jump Rope for Heart website. If this does not work for you, our representative from the American Heart Association said they would still accept cash donations at the start of next school year if students aren’t able to turn them in this school year.
