LWS Messenger - August 20, 2021

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

The first couple of days of school are behind us and it has been wonderful to have everyone back. This just reinforces the fact that this is where we belong! Students are busy learning their routines and getting to know each other, and teachers are working to get to know their students socially and academically. It is shaping up to be a great school year!

CURRICULUM NIGHT

Save the date – our classroom curriculum nights will be held on August 31 and September 1st following the schedule below. Due to popular demand our Curriculum Nights will be held virtually this year. More details on how to connect will be coming next week.

THE LWS COLOR RUN IS BACK

Join us for the most colorful run of your life! LWS’s 1 mile Color Run will be held at the school on Thursday, September 16th from 5-6:30pm. Music will be provided by Mr. Zimmer, stretching will be led by Soma Studio Batavia, and hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available to be purchased from Duke’s Dogs.

The cost is $20 for the first participant (includes a t shirt) and $5 for each additional t-shirt. Registration is due by August 27th. Flyers with additional information will be sent home with students today. If you have any questions please contact Kim Charlett kcharlett@comcast.net or Lindsay Ripke lindsrip@gmail.com.

A flyer and registration form is coming home with your child – but you can get a copy HERE as well.

THE PTO IS BACK AND READY FOR A GREAT YEAR

THIS FLYER will give you information about our PTO, a way to connect with them, and a peak at the events we are planning for this school year.

BATAVIA CREAMERY FUNDRAISER

A couple of times each month the PTO will set up food night fundraisers at local restaurants. These events are optional, please choose the ones that work best for your family. It is a nice way to run into some friends from school and the money collected comes back to the PTO. This helps us to meet our goal of fundraising in a community building way and avoid selling objects such as candy coupon books or wrapping paper.

Our first event of the school year will be at the Batavia Creamery (very appropriate given the weather). It will be on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 11:00am until 9:30pm. Just tell your  server you are from Louise White School and 25% of all purchases will come back to the school. See all of the details HERE.

SIGN UP YOUR YARD

If you were at LWS on Early this week you saw the welcome back to school sign. That was put there by a Batavia company – Sign Up Your Yard. If you would like to order a sign for your own personal occasions contact them and tell them you are from LWS and the PTO will get $10. HERE are all the details.

BATAVIA FEEDER BASKETBALL

Attention boys in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. The Batavia Feeder Basketball program is holding tryouts next week. CLICK HERE for all the dates and times.
