PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Halloween Celebrations
Halloween is right around the corner so here is what you need to know about school celebrations this year. Students can wear their costumes to school on Monday the 31st. Classes will be scheduling celebrations at different times throughout the day and will contact you if they need volunteers to help. Weather permitting we will hold an outdoor costume parade that all parents are invited to attend. If it is raining or too cold to go out, we will hold the parade indoors and parents are free to join us in the gym.
When planning your child’s costume for the day, Please adhere to the following guidelines:
-
-
-
- We have a wide age range here. Please try to avoid costumes that are excessively scary or gruesome.
- It is also a good idea to limit the amount of makeup on the face. Having your face covered with makeup for the whole day can get quite uncomfortable.
- Finally, please remember weapons, even play weapons, are not allowed at school. Please leave them at home.

PICTURE RETAKES
The photographer will be back to LWS on Wednesday, October 26 to retake pictures or take pictures of students who were absent.
If you did not like the photograph that was sent home, just send it back on Wednesday with your child and it will be retaken. It is also a good idea to email your child’s teacher to let them know you want a retake.
If your child was absent or you did not order a package the first time and you want to order one now – follow these directions:
-
-
- Up until 10:30 am on October 26 you can visit ordercp.com and enter ticket code 10063502 and order a package. These will be sent to the school for free.
- If you order after 10:30 on the 26th there is a $5.50 charge to have the pictures mailed to your home.

VETERAN’S DAY ASSEMBLY
LWS is preparing for our annual Veterans Day Assembly that will take place on November 11th, from 9:30 to 10:00 in the LWS gym.
If you have a family member who is/was a veteran and you would like them to appear in our slide show of LWS veterans, please send an electronic copy of the photo to: kate.smith@bps101.net.
Include the veteran’s name and student’s name and how they are related to each other. If you’d like, you may add their military information such as branch, rank, years of service, etc. and Mrs. Smith will be sure they are added. Photos must be received by Wednesday, November 9th in order to be inserted into the slide show. Mrs. Smith has the photos that were in the show last year, so you do not need to resend those.
Also, if you have a veteran in your family who would like to attend the assembly, we would be honored to have them. They will sit in front with the other veterans and the student(s) they are related to. Each veteran will have an opportunity to say their name and the name of the LWS student that invited them. Please email Mr. Zimmer (walter.zimmer@bps101.net) if your veteran will be in attendance so we have enough chairs for everyone!
Thanks for helping us honor our veterans on such a special day.
